In the early 80s, the real star at Ducati was the 600 TT2. Designed on the base of the 597 cc Pantah engine with desmodromic timing controlled via a toothed belt, the 600 TT2 was the first Ducati race bike to adopt the trellis frame.
Its design was both functional and simple, which contributed to reducing the bike’s overall weight and dimensions, making it more agile and more competitive.
Between 1981 and 1984, the 600 TT2 won four consecutive world titles with Brit Tony Rutter, while in 1981 and 1982 it triumphed in the Italian championship, first with Massimo Broccoli and then with Walter Cussigh.
