In 2012 Ducati introduced one of its most successful models of recent times, the Multistrada 1200.
Significantly more advanced than the first version launched in 2003, the Multistrada 1200 raised the dual sport segment to a completely new level, giving new meaning to the concept of versatile motorcycle. Based on the engine derived from the 1098, the Multistrada 1200 incorporated all the technological and performance-related equipment that had been developed in racing. Considered the most powerful motorcycle in the dual sport category, it was able to deliver as much as 150 hp.
Its design and volumes, revolutionary with respect to the Ducati superbikes produced up until that point, were inspired by the automotive SUV concept, so fashionable in the early 2000s. Although belonging to what was a brand-new segment for the company, the Multistrada 1200 possessed all the elements typical of Ducati DNA: Style, Sophistication and Performance.

Thanks to the new technology of the riding modes, the Multistrada 1200 was like having four bikes in one, designed to respond to multiple types of use. The advanced electronics allowed the rider to select a series of specific parameters by pressing just one button, which adapted the bike to four different situations, from touring, to dirt, to sports riding and urban travel.
Whatever the road conditions, the Multistrada 1200 ensured maximum riding pleasure, adjusting the suspension and modifying the electronic controls and engine performance based on the rider’s needs. In addition, a series of special accessories was envisaged for each riding mode.
Excitement, multiplied. Comfort and safety were guaranteed at all times and, in addition to modified power delivery, the electronic management of each riding mode regulated traction control, wheelie control and the ABS settings.
