In 2013, Ducati set a new benchmark in the motorcycling world with the 1199 Superleggera. With the 1199 Panigale as its base, the Superleggera was born with the aim of reducing weight as far as possible so as to raise performance to a level never before achieved.
Only 500 numbered units of the 1199 Superleggera were built, and it proved an immediate hit, both technically and commercially. The engine was even more high-performance than that of the 1199, maximum power exceeded 200 hp, and the bike had a dry weight of just 155 kg. The performance of the Superleggera exceeded that of any supersport bike to have come before.
Ducati had reached new levels of technical sophistication, giving life to a bike that was unique in terms of its exclusivity and the excitement it generated on-board.
