Another Ducati with the number 2 made history in 1996 and it was that of Troy Corser, the first Australian rider to make his mark for the Borgo Panigale.
In fact, with the 916 F96 Corser won the Riders' title and gave Ducati another Constructors' title in the World Superbike Championship.
His teammate, American John Kocinski, also in 1996 wins five races and takes a handful of podiums, consolidating the supremacy of the Ducati 916.
The 916 F96 is basically the same bike used in 1994 and 1995. With it its designer Massimo Tamburini reaches a level of perception such in terms of technique and design that there is little to change. With its double carbon-fiber exhaust positioned under the seat, the powerful braking system and the single-sided swingarm, the 916 F96 writes another important chapter in Ducati's history.
