750 Supersport Desmo

Meticulous design, attention to detail, and the potential of the twin-cylinder engine combined with the unparalleled mechanics of the legendary 750 Imola.

On the wave of the Imola 200 Miles win, Ducati continued to develop its desmodromic system both for its road bikes and racing models.

The Ducati 750 Supersport Desmo was presented at the Milan Motorcycle Show in November 1973 and made its debut in the Italian production-derived racing series that same year. A category that, in a certain sense, was the predecessor to today’s superbike.

The motorcycle offered a series of features rarely seen on a sports bike. The four-stroke engine was able to satisfy the needs of any rider, including those interested in racing, without requiring any particular modifications.

Both exhausts on the 750 SS Desmo were purposely raised to ensure sufficient ground clearance at full lean. With this bike, Franco Uncini became the Italian champion in the 750 cc class in 1975.

Two years later, Cook Neilson and the 750 SS triumphed in the legendary Daytona 200 Miles.
