It is a Bluetooth control unit that offers the possibility of pair up to four devices (six on some newer models), including smartphones, rider and passenger headsets and Ducati navigators.

The DMS allows the rider to:

  • Manage phone calls directly from the handlebar buttons.
  • Receive and display on the dashboard notifications of received messages/emails to the connected device
  • Manage the music played by the smartphone
  • Transfer riding mode setting from Ducati Link App to vehicle.

The system integrates advanced features such as turn-by-turn navigation (for compatible models) and direct access to the smartphone's music library.

F.A.Q.

What does the Ducati Link app allow you to do?

The Ducati Link app can be used with any Ducati bike, even if the bike is not equipped with Ducati Multimedia System (DMS).

If the Ducati bike is equipped with DMS, it is possible to connect it with the Ducati Link app and:

  • record data from the bike while riding (e.g., travel time, travel distance, statistical data on riding speed, riding mode used, engine power, and lean angles achieved);
  • modify riding mode settings;
  • access the Turn By Turn navigation feature (for bikes that support it).

Without the DMS, a lesser set of data (travel time, travel distance, and riding speed) can be collected by smartphone GPS.

Note: check on the website www.ducati.com or with your trusted dealer if your Ducati supports DMS and Turn By Turn navigation.

How to connect my smartphone to the bike?

For more details please refer to your bike owner's manual, which can be downloaded at the following link: https://www.ducati.com/ww/en/service-maintenance/owner-manuals

Once the bike and your smartphone are connected, open Ducati Link and follow the wizard to create the new bike by adding it to your garage. The procedure for creating the bike changes depending on whether it is equipped with DMS or not.

If your bike is not equipped with DMS, select your model from those offered in the app. Remember that if your bike's model is not present, you can safely use a model similar to yours: without DMS, Ducati Link does not communicate directly with the bike's ECU but detects a smaller set of data by means of the phone's GPS.

How can I verify if the bike is correctly connected to my smartphone and the Ducati Link?

We suggest you perform the following step-by-step checks:

  • Verify that Bluetooth and localization are properly enabled on the smartphone;
  • Verify that the phone is not in power-saving mode and that the localization (to be able to run in the background, it has to be set to "Allow Always") and Bluetooth permissions have not been denied;
  • Check on the dashboard setting menu that you have correctly paired the smartphone with the bike;
  • Try turning the motorcycle ignition off and on again, keeping the motorcycle off for at least 1 minute; while doing so, also try turning the Bluetooth of the smartphone off and on again;
  • Try closing and restarting the App, remembering that for Android OS phones it is not enough to simply close it but it is necessary to perform a forced shutdown;
  • In the case of Ducati models prior to 2018, check that the bike's Bluetooth software is the latest available and, if necessary, proceed with the update at your trusted dealer.
With which operating systems the Ducati Link is available?

The app is available for Android devices with Android 10.0 or higher, and iOS devices with iOS 16.0 or higher.

Is it recommended to use specific smartphones to connect the Ducati Link app to my Ducati bike?

Ducati continuously tests many of the most popular and recent smartphones, however it is not possible to guarantee the correct operation of the Ducati Link system with all the smartphones on the market and all their software.

The instrument panel functions have been tested and validated with the main available smartphones, including: Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy S22 and Galaxy A54 and Z Flip4, Google Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 7, Huawei 40 Pro, Realme 11 Pro, Redmi Note 12 Pro, OnePlus 11, iPhone 15 and 15 Pro, iPhone 14 and 14 Pro, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone SE, etc. The operating systems available during the development phase are: Android 12 and higher; iOS 16 and higher.

How many devices can my bike be paired with?

The Ducati Link system offers the possibility of pair up to two smartphones (only one of which can be connected to the bike at any given time), a rider intercom, a passenger intercom, a Ducati Zumo satellite navigation kit.

In case you want to associate a new device, you must first proceed with the removal of one of the corresponding devices already associated.

In what languages is the Ducati Link app available?

The app is available in the following languages: Italian, English, Spanish, French, German, and Dutch.

Is a Ducati account required to use the app?

Yes, you shall have a My Ducati account to access and use Ducati Link.

If you do not have it, you can create the My Ducati account directly from the Ducati Link app.

Why do I not see the map correctly in the app?

We recommend checking that localisation permissions in the app are active. Next, verify that Localization is enabled on the smartphone and there is internet network coverage.

The GPS track doesn't seem accurate, what can I do?

Please verify that the phone is not in power-saving mode and that the Localization (to be able to run in the background, it has to be set to "Allow Always") and Bluetooth permissions have not been denied.

What is the Ducati Multimedia System (DMS)?

The Ducati Multimedia System (DMS) is the infotainment system with which many Ducati models are equipped, for some of these only as an accessory while for others as standard.

The DMS essentially consists of a Bluetooth control unit that, once installed on the bike, enables connection with the smartphone, the rider's personal headset, the passenger's headset, and possibly the Ducati accessory navigator.

Up to 4 devices (or 6 in some newer bike models) can be connected to the DMS. When the Bluetooth connection is on, the dashboard gives evidence by means of the appropriate icons on the display of the correctly connected devices.

Note: for more details, please refer to your bike owner's manual, which can be downloaded at the following link: https://www.ducati.com/ww/en/service-maintenance/owner-manuals

What additional features does the DMS provide?

The DMS connected via Bluetooth to the smartphone and helmet earphones allows the rider to:

  • Manage the receipt of phone calls while riding by means of the handlebar buttons. In case of a missed or interrupted call, it is possible to call back the last number within 5 seconds after the call end. In addition, with the LAST CALLS function in the setting menu, a maximum of 7 calls among the last received, missed or dialed calls are displayed, which you can scroll through and possibly call back;
  • Receive and display on the dashboard notifications of received messages/emails (only in the case of SMS/MMS/EMAIL from native smartphone apps, thus not third-party messages such as WhatsApp or Gmail);
  • Manage the music played by the smartphone. With the PLAYER function in the setting menu it is indeed possible to activate the music management widget (to play / pause / next / back a track). In case of receiving a phone call during music playback, the system will autonomously pause the music allowing you to answer the caller;
  • Transfer riding mode setting from Ducati Link app to vehicle.
Can I listen to Spotify, YouTube, Amazon music via the DMS system?

The DMS directly accesses the currently selected music library in your smartphone.

How do I pair the intercom to the dashboard?

The intercom pairing process is similar to that of a smartphone.

1. Set the intercom in Bluetooth pairing mode (this mode activation is specific for each model, so it is recommended to refer to the device's use and maintenance manual) by acting on the Interactive Menu of your Ducati and selecting the item Bluetooth -> Pairing -> Rider 1 (or Passenger 2) and pressing Enter.

2. Wait for the end of the Bluetooth device search.

3. Select the device from those listed and press Enter.

Is a specific intercom recommended?

The Ducati Link system have been tested and validated with the Nolan B901X (part no. 981071104) intercom.

It is still possible to pair and use other intercoms, but their proper functioning is not guaranteed.

Note: the system doesn't work properly if adopting standard Bluetooth telephone headsets (such as AirPods).

Can I use an external navigator?

Ducati guarantees that Bluetooth navigators supplied with the following kits can be connected to the DMS:

1. Ducati Zumo 350 satellite navigator kit

2. Ducati Zumo 390 satellite navigator kit

3. Ducati Zumo 395 satellite navigator kit

Note: once the Ducati navigator is paired and connected to the DMS, the system allows you to receive voice directions in the associated intercom.

Can I use the voice commands of my smartphone?

Yes, you are allowed to use your smartphone with the screen-lock whether it is iOS phone or Android phone.

Can I stay connected to the bike with the Ducati Connect even when I turn off the vehicle?

Typically, when the bike is turned on after a stop, it is necessary to wait for the reconnection time - about 60 seconds from the key switch-on - for the Ducati Link connection to be restored.

Note: obviously, it is necessary to stay within the coverage range of the Bluetooth network, distance that may depend on the smartphone in use.

How can I purchase the Tutn By Turn license?

Once verified that your model supports Turn By Turn and that it is not given as a standard feature, Turn By Turn is then an optional and as such shall be purchased from your dealer of choice.

For compatible models, what additional features does the Turn By Turn license provide?

The Turn By Turn navigation allows the rider to:

  • Plan the trip conveniently from the App;
  • Receive visual and/or voice turn-by-turn directions during the planned trip;
  • Receive indications of speed limits and traffic info;
  • Use navigation even in the absence of internet network thanks to the downloadable offline map.
Is it possible to use more than one smartphone with the Turn By Turn navigation system?

Of course, it's possible to pair up to two devices to the bike dashboard, even if only one can be connected at a time.

The Turn By Turn license is associated to the bike VIN and not to the particular smartphone. Therefore, the Ducati Link app will verify the bike VIN at the connection time and enable the license.

Can I use the Turn By Turn without a network connection?

The use of the Turn By Turn navigation is possible without a network connection after downloading offline maps in the menu:

You -> Settings -> TBT Settings -> Download maps.

Can I retrieve recorded itineraries or other personal data from one account to transfer to another one?

No, for privacy reasons it is not possible to transfer routes (whether public or private) or other personal data from one account to another.
