Casey Stoner

The great Ducati adventure in MotoGP, which began in 2003 and “grew” with Loris Capirossi’s early wins, reached a world title winning peak in 2007 with a rider who would win a place in the hearts of the ducatisti, a man by the name of Casey Stoner.

Ducati's great adventure in MotoGP, which began in 2003 and progressed with the first successes of Loris Capirossi, reached the top with a world title in 2007 with a rider that was destined to become a favourite of Ducatistas: Casey Stoner.

From the first qualification runs, the combination of Stoner and Desmosedici – which in 2007 used the new 800cc engine – proved to be quite successful.

At his official début at the Grand Prix of Qatar the Australian rider won his first race with Ducati, amazing all with his impressive speed and ability to adapt to the new bike. Stoner rang up a total of ten victories and four podiums, completing all 18 races of the season, winning the riders' title and making it possible for Ducati to win the manufacturers' title, 34 years after the last title won by an Italian motorcycle manufacturer.

In 2008 Stoner was once again very strong, this time earning second place. In 2009 – the year he won four races, giving Ducati its first victory "at home" in Mugello – health problems forced the rider to skip three races of the championship, compromising the season.

2010, Stoner's last year with Ducati, ended with three wins and fourth place in the MotoGP world standings.
