Skye Adams becomes the first ever female Hooligans Champion on the Scrambler Ducati 800, with Jack Bell completing a 1-2 championship finish for the Devitt X Vanoni team

  • Adams is the first female DTRA Champion
  • Devitt x Vananoi the first team to get 1-2 in the final standings

Max Vanoni reports back from last month's DTRA National Flat Track Championship event at Greenfield (20-21 September), which saw the Devitt X Vanoni team complete another successful season of dirt track racing.

As always, we approached the final race of the season eager to win but this time it was extra exciting for us as for the first time both our riders were in possible contention for the title.

The day started well and the track was in prime condition. Jack lapped fast on both the Twins and the Hooligans Scrambler, whilst Skye was gearing up her confidence after crashing heavily at Amman Valley Half Mile at the last race.

With free practice wrapped up and set up changes made, it was time to set off for the timed heats. Jack took the lead in heat one with Skye in fourth, until disaster struck on lap three: Jack highsided his Scrambler 1100 coming out of turn two, leaving him injured and in need of medical attention. With the World Championship in two weeks time it was decided that the best course of action would be to get checked out at Boston Hospital to rule out any broken bones.

However, the track action didn’t stop and Skye gave it all on the Scrambler Ducati 800, racking up three fourth places in the heats giving her fourth pick for the final. With her pace getting better throughout the day, she focused on her championship position.

Skye had a good start in the final and kept a steady pace in the eight-lap race, finishing in fourth place behind leader Maikel Dijkstra (Royal Enfield), Alan Mickel (Harley Davidson) and Gareth Williamson (Triumph). This result would have meant a 1-2 overall Championship finish with Jack first and Skye second. But winner Dijkstra was not to be awarded points because his bike did not meet regulations, meaning Skye was the 2024 UK Hooligans Champion.

This result shows how much the Devitt X Vanoni Team has grown. Not only we achieved a 1-2 in the championship, but both riders had a shot at the top spot. This is a matter of great pride for the team and is the kind of result we set off to achieve when we started racing in 2018 and we have to thank all our sponsors for it.

In the last four years the Devitt X Vanoni team has delivered four Championships. the youngest Champion ever, and the most wins in a season. And now we are also the first team to achieve a 1-2 in the final standings, as well as the first female DTRA Champion. We have lots to be proud of.

Skye Adams (Devitt X Vanoni Team #76)
2024 UK Hooligans Champion
"I had a great weekend at the season final at Greenfields. After thinking I couldn’t ride due to injury, to be able to get back on and finish the season was a big thing for me. Unfortunately, my teammate Jack had a nasty crash in heat 1 which wasn’t nice to see. I managed to keep racing for the rest of the day and wrapped up the year with winning the championship. It’s a bittersweet moment for me, but really great to end the year on such a high. I’d like to thank Max, Devitt and the team for another great year!"

Jack Bell (Devitt X Vanoni Team #93)
"Greenfield didn’t go quite as well planned. A crash in the first heat race of the hooligan class ended my weekend. It’s a shame as I was really looking forward to getting stuck in on the FT07 and the Scrambler 1100. Now I’ll look forward to some testing in the winter so we can be 100% ready to fight next year. I’d like to congratulate my teammate Skye for taking the Hooligan Championship and being the first female to do so. I’d like to thank Max for his commitment and hard work through the season and Devitt Insurance and all the sponsors for the support."
