HomeLuke Jones rode a brilliant race in damp conditions on his Highsparks Ducati Panigale V2 at Oulton Park today claiming his first British Supersport podium of the season, and the first for the Panigale V2 in the championship.
Oxford Products Racing Ducati’s Ben Currie was a favourite for the race having qualified on the front row in second place. But whilst leading he ran wide and re-joined the race down in eighth.
The incident promoted Jones to third, behind Tom Booth-Amos (Kawasaki) and Richard Cooper (Yamaha) with the trio concluding the race in those positions respectively, Jones taking a well-deserved podium.
Currie finished his race in sixth and now sits third in the championship, while Jones is the only other Ducati rider in the top ten, sitting in seventh.

“It was sketchy out there! I had a cracking start. Just dug in on the first few laps. By the time I got into fourth place the first three had a bit of a gap. I was just catching it slowly, but ended up pushing and running on at the chicanes, and I think I dropped back another four places. I thought that then was my podium chance gone.
But I just dug deep and made my way back through the guys. And then I saw Ben in the gravel and I thought this could be a podium on the cards after all. I kept my head down and just tried as hard as I could and brought it home in third. I believe it's the first Ducati podium in Supersport here for a while, especially with the new generation rules, so mega happy with that!”
