Keep up to speed with Desmo Sport Ducati Racing in the Australian Superbike Championship!
DesmoSport DucatiThe opening round of the 2025 Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) at Phillip Island, held alongside WorldSBK, marked an exciting milestone for Superbike Advocates Racing, making its series debut with three-time ASBK champion Glenn Allerton aboard the Ducati V4R.
Strong Start in Practice & Qualifying
With the team newly formed over the New Year in Sydney, the weekend was an opportunity to put months of preparation to the test. Friday's practice sessions allowed Allerton to get a feel for the Mctee electronics and the fast, flowing nature of Phillip Island. He showed immediate promise, finishing P4 in both sessions with times of 1:33.3 and 1:33.0 respectively.
In qualifying, the team opted for a strategic approach, using only a single set of tyres to ensure fresh rubber for all races. Despite this, Allerton still improved his time to 1:32.7, securing P6 on the grid.
Race Recap
• Race 1: Allerton battled inside the top five throughout the race, ultimately finishing P4-an outstanding result for the team's first-ever ASBK race.
• Race 2: Once again fighting in the lead group, Allerton ran in P4 for much of the race before getting shuffled back to P6 on the final lap. Still, more valuable points were secured.
• Race 3: With key setup changes, Allerton ran with the podium contenders and was in the fight for P2 and P3 before an unfortunate radiator failure forced an early retirement.
Despite the setback in Race 3, Superbike Advocates Racing's debut was a clear success, with competitive pace and rapid development across the weekend. Allerton finished 9th overall in the standings, though this didn't fully reflect the team's podium potential.
Glenn Allerton on the Team's ASBK Debut:
"It was a fantastic first outing for Superbike Advocates Racing. This has been a massive undertaking, and I have to thank Lee and the entire team for their efforts in delivering such a strong bike. The Ducati is new for all of us, but we improved all weekend, and in Race 3, we were fighting for the podium. It was disappointing to retire due to the radiator issue, but I'm happy with the progress we made. We head to Sydney Motorsport Park with confidence, and I expect to be fighting for podiums and race wins soon."
Next Stop: Sydney Motorsport Park Under Lights
Superbike Advocates Racing now shifts focus to Round 2 at Sydney Motorsport Park on March 28-29, where the team will compete under the lights for the first time in ASBK. With strong momentum and continued development, the team aims to fight at the front and chase its first podium finish in the championship.
