Learning More of the Yugambeh Language Region

With the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) joining the Supercars championship this weekend at Darwin's Hidden Valley circuit, DesmoSport Ducati has once again chosen to actively participate in the indigenous round, by learning more stories from the teams home-base on the Gold Coast, known as the Yugambeh Language Region thanks to artist and performer Luther Cora.

Team co-owner, Ben Henry: "We learnt a lot from Luther (Cora) last year about the local area and the Aboriginal culture that we can all embrace and be proud of. We really wanted to keep learning and sharing more stories from the Yugambeh Language Region and Luther does a fantastic job both in the artwork itself and telling the stories that it represents. It made sense to all of us to take the concept a step further and include the Aboriginal flag on the side of the bike, fitting with our 2023 livery."

Luther Cora: "I was really happy to work with Ben, Troy and DesmoSport Ducati again, and I feel honoured to be able to decorate the bike and to tell some more stories from our culture, and especially from our culture in this region from the Tweed River to the Logan River and out to the Beaudesert area. My artwork tells the story of different mobs coming together, sharing, sharing food, sharing knowledge in a time of abundance here on the Gold Coast which is actually right now, mullet season. We can see Gwonda, the Dolphin. Our people would use the Dolphin to help hunt those large schools of mullet, bringing them in to the shallow waters where our people could catch them. I think the flag on the bike, really prominent on the side there, is a bit of a statement. We're proud of our flag, the sun, the people and the land and everything it stands for to our people. Australian Aboriginal culture is the oldest living culture in the world, over 60,000 years old and it's not just Aboriginal culture, it's Australian culture, it belongs to each and every one of us."

Broc Pearson: "I obviously saw the bike last year with Luther's artwork across it and learnt what it meant through the content, so to be a part of telling more of those stories this year is a privilege. I've spent my whole life living in this area so to learn more about the culture and history of the region, how the Aboriginal people interacted with each other and with the environment around them has been really interesting and I'm proud to ride with those stories, with Gwonda and the Aboriginal flag on the Panigale V4 R."
