The cycling structure is extremely light and the monocoque frame proves to be a multifunctional technical element as it also acts as an air-box. In fact, in addition to the air filter, it also houses the throttle bodies and the fuel circuit complete with injectors. The bottom of the steel tank is used as a closing element to complete a work of high engine engineering.
Compared to the Panigale V2, the chassis dimensions have been optimised for the different intended use of the bike, as well as the specific weight distribution with the rider on board. The steering dimensions provide for a 24 ° inclination of the steerer, 94 mm of trail for a wheelbase of 1465 mm. Thanks to a careful definition of the heights of the front and rear, the weight distribution remains that of a distinctly sporty bike, 52% at the front and 48% at the rear.
The Streetfighter V2 is fitted with a 43mm diameter Showa BPF fork at the front, fully adjustable in compression and rebound damping and spring preload. The control of the front end is completed by a Sachs steering damper. A linkage equipped with a progressive link operates the fully adjustable Sachs rear shock absorber. The side-mounted shock absorber allows quick access to all adjustments, the link is moved by a single-arm cast in aluminium.
