916

The 916 is balanced, elegant and rational, without any concession to the superfluous, as well as being incredibly exciting and effective in driving.
Timeless beauty.

In 1994, the evolution of Ducati DNA found its ultimate expression. Massimo Tamburini created his masterpiece, the 916, described by Motorcycle News magazine in 2014 as "the most beautiful bike of the last 50 years."

The 916 represented the very essence of Ducati DNA. For the first time, the concepts of Style, Sophistication and Performance were perfectly blended in a single iconic motorcycle. The 916 had everything that was to be found on every Ducati designed and built as of the mid-nineties.

Like a true work of art, the 916 was balanced, elegant and rational, with nothing of the superfluous, as well as being incredibly exciting and efficient to ride. In addition to its unmistakable design, it also boasted innovative technical features that saw it named "Motorcycle of the Year" by almost every specialized magazine of the time.

Unmistakable DNA

The beauty and elegance of the 916 live on in the Panigale V4 SP2 30th Anniversario 916: an extraordinary new creation that embodies the past, present and future of Ducati.

In October 1993, the Ducati 916 made its debut at the Milan Motorcycle Show, immediately becoming an icon of Ducati style and much more besides.

Perfect fusion of style and performance.

The Ducati 916 was a winning bike not only aesthetically, but also in terms of performance. This iconic bike laid the foundation for the most victorious family in Ducati's Superbike history, dominating competition with a perfect balance of style and speed.

The 916 is undoubtedly a true masterpiece of design, but it is also the perfect synthesis of the three values that still distinguish the brand today. And this is precisely what the dedicated installation wants to emphasize, which, recalling the double helix of DNA, becomes a physical representation of Style, Sophistication and Performance, genetic traits of Ducati motorcycles.

The sculptures of Massimo Tamburini

Regarded by many as a kind of sculptor who models his own motorcycles to perfection, Tamburini designs the 916 following exactly the same philosophy.

Each time the prototype evolves, instead of testing it in a wind tunnel, Tamburini takes the bike and rides the roads between San Marino and Rimini during rainy days. In this way, in fact, he can observe the tracks left by water drops along the superstructures, evaluating the aerodynamic behavior of each element and obtaining the information needed to optimize its design.

And that is how, step by step, the masterpiece takes shape.
