Multistrada V4 Video TutorialsTo make it easier for you to find your way around, we have created a list of the most frequently asked questions, divided into subject areas, along with their answers.
Customer ServiceThe seventh generation of Ducati Superbike is created to improve all-round performance and introduces technical solutions deriving from lived experience and success in the racing world.
The Panigale V4 is the most high-performance sports bike in the segment today, the SBK version of which has won two consecutive Superbike World Championship titles.
Less effort and more precision for the rider, to achieve quicker lap times and heighten consistency and speed during timed sessions. Easier to ride, it allows for more rapid corner entry: a sport tool to elevate the performance of every rider.
Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia
It is meticulous attention to every detail that makes the difference. An attitude that allows the new Panigale V4 to be even faster on track, as demonstrated during a comparison test at the Cremona circuit. Three riders, one fast amateur, one professional and official Ducati test rider Alessandro Valia were all faster with the new generation Panigale V4, going one second quicker on average.
Click on the numbers in the infographic below and discover the elements that contribute most to increased performance.
-0.064
The significant lateral flexibility of the Front Frame optimises grip at maximum lean angle, boosting rider feeling with the front and ensuring tighter, faster cornering.
-0.108
The new Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm allows the rider to transfer all the available torque to the ground, assisted by the DTC optimised with the DVO (Ducati Vehicle Observer), which increases stability when accelerating out of the corners and increases the rider’s confidence and willingness to stay on the throttle.
-0.159
Taking a corner at 180° essentially means decelerating hard and taking the turn as fast as possible to exit as quickly as possible. The Race e-Cbs with “Post Run” function maximises deceleration during the final phase of corner entry and helps the rider tighten the trajectory to the apex. The chassis and Öhlins Smart EC 3 suspension keep the motorcycle on the ideal line to achieve maximum acceleration.
-0.088
Along the short straight and through the subsequent long corner, the second-generation Quick Shift with shorter and more precise gearing affords the rider quicker and more efficient shifting, particularly through this section where there are five gear changes in total, all with a tilted bike - three up, including a 1-2 short shift, and two down.
-0.129
The new tank ergonomics allow the rider to hang off the motorcycle more naturally mid-turn, fully exploiting the new Panigale V4’s ability to trace a tighter trajectory, and be more confident on the throttle out of the turn, trusting in the stability that the Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm offers in acceleration.
-0.179
The aerodynamics development work comes into its own along the long straight. The rider can easily adopt the best riding position, their elbow and knees better aligned thanks to a seat space that is roomier lengthways. Protection guaranteed by the front end will have the rider feeling as if they are in a bubble of calm air, protected from turbulence, all to the benefit of acceleration and top speed.
-0.073
There are significant gains to be had in terms of braking, corner entry and corner exit, in that the rider can approach faster. The Race eCBS allows for later braking, the bike always stable, and the rider can be back on the throttle when the bike is still at an angle thanks to the connection between front and rear that the Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm offers.
-0.048
The reduced lateral stiffness of the Front Frame makes for better entry speed and corner speed. Out of the turns, the Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm really comes into its own, effectively transferring torque to the ground.
The meticulous attention to performance is also measured on the road bikes with a methodology developed by Ducati Corse to carry out lap by lap performance comparisons. Internally, this is known as “Time Difference Analysis”.
Every turn is carefully examined and the increase in effective performance can be more or less significant depending on the moves made in that specific area of the track. As you can see from the infographic above, the new Panigale V4 improves in all sectors, but the greatest performance increment comes in the areas that are highlighted.
